Ingredients:

2 cup chawal (rice) 
1/2 tsp oil 
1 tsp salt 
1/2 tsp cumin seeds 
1/2 tsp black pepper 
1-2 green chilies, finely chopped 
1/4 cup finely chopped onion 
1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro 

Method: 
 1. Wash the rice in plenty of water and drain. 
 2. Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium heat and fry the cumin seeds and black pepper for a few seconds. 
 3. Add the rice and fry for a minute or two until the rice is evenly coated with the oil. 
 4. Add 1 and 1/2 cups of water and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover and simmer for 10 minutes. 
 5. Add the salt, green chilies, onion and cilantro and stir gently. 6. Cover and simmer for another 5 minutes or until the rice is cooked through. Serve hot with your favorite curry.
